The Head of Purchasing will bring together all elements of purchasing and create a centre of excellence. The main categories will be construction, property maintenance, Human Resources and business supplies ( from travel to stationary). The total spend will be in the region of £150 million. You will also be responsible for motivating and developing a team of 6 CIPS qualified procurement specialists. In creating the centre of excellence you will ensure that purchasing is strategically aligned with the needs of the business. You will have the charisma and presence to ensure that the organisation buys in to and makes full use of an expert purchasing function from compliance issues to tendering major construction projects and supplier development. The ideal candidate will have some experience in the construction / maintenance sector and some procurement consulting experience.

Through the management of all operational aspects of the supply chain, the successful candidate will contribute to the achievement of business objectives and financial targets. You will ensure that products are available on time, on cost, and to the required standard of quality. You will manage the sales order processing, planning, purchasing, inventory and logistics. Reporting to the Managing Director the successful candidate will manage the customer service function across both sites, leading a Customer Service team in the provision of a robust 24/7 customer contact service for UK and International Customers.  You will ensure the provision of appropriate order taking and that procedures are followed to enable correct and timely billing for the services provided.  You will be the custodian and ‘gatekeeper for all customer SLA’s, ensuring that policies and procedures are in place and adhered to achieve agreed Service Levels.   It will be your responsibility to manage the customer complaints procedure, ensuring all complaints undergo root cause analysis and measures are put in place to prevent re-occurrence.   Using Continuous Improvement tools and techniques you will drive down costs and increase customer satisfaction.
